Superbadge is a web based blockchain app that lets you mint tokens to your wallet with a music artist’s name saved in them. It was built as a project to enter Base’s Onchain Summer incentive to showcase cultural uses of blockchain tech that helps bring more people “onchain”.
Tokens are limited to one per wallet and cannot be transferred or re-sold, they are specifically for self-identification.
Blockchain enables a way to collect digital cultural artefacts that are not locked to one specific platform. Artefacts associated with your wallet form your onchain identity. While most music is not able to be formally collected, we search for ways to self-identify as music-lovers. The act of a home-made badge represents “Minimum Viable Merch” (credit @cxy), so that future music ecosystems built around music can easily “read” your music taste.
Superbadge is an 1155 contract on the Base blockchain. We help you find an artist from a database of established artists and mint your badge. See who else also has a badge by tapping an artist, view another fan’s badges and share your collection of badges. Any other service will be able to identify as a music fan of a specific artist using your Superbadge.
The only cost for minting a Superbadge is the actual blockchain transaction fee, current transactions are averaging $0.01. You’ll need ETH on Base to pay for this.
